This morning, as I was sitting at my desk, I saw something swoop through our lobby and smack into the glass wall that partitions the offices. I thought it was a little sparrow or something that had flown in when the door was open so I went over to get it and set it loose (if it had survived without a broken neck). It had fallen into the planter box by the door so I searched through the foliage trying to find the poor little creature. However, it turns out, it wasn’t a bird at all. When I got to the end of the plants, I spread the leaves of the last one and this tiny little bat screeched up at me. He was so cute.
I got a bucket and a coworker and we scooped the little guy up and took him outside. He just sat there screeching and I thought he was damaged and wasn’t going to make it. Fortunately he wasn’t hurt, just dazed, and after a bit he collected himself and flew off.
Sooo cute. Not something you get to see every day.
Hahaha! I totally get this!
Once I was climbing and came to a good rest stance with a nice crack above me. I pulled out a spring loaded cam for protection (since I was 20′ above my last piece), and was about to place it when I saw some little eyes blinking back at me inside the crack: it was the smallest little bat on earth, crouched inside that crack, and awaiting nightfall. I couldn’t bring myself to crush his little self, so I placed the cam a foot lower, wished him well, and climbed on.
They really are the cutest little guys.
